The brief sounded simple enough.

Interview five experts.
Deliver a clear engaging video in under five minutes.

In reality, the subject matter was complex, publicly debated and deeply important to the local community. By the end of filming we were sitting on more than an hour of thoughtful, detailed expert insight.

That was the challenge behind the ECU Mount Lawley Master Plan video produced for DevelopmentWA.

This project wasn’t about filming interviews.
It was about transforming complexity into clarity.

A Site with History and High Public Interest

The Mount Lawley site is iconic to Perth. Many people have driven past it for years which means public interest in its future is high and expectations around transparency and balance are even higher.

Our role was to present multiple specialist perspectives in a way that felt balanced, impartial and genuinely informative without overwhelming the viewer.

The video needed to explain not just what is planned, but how decisions are being made and why.

Editing Is Where the Real Work Happens

Across five expert interviews, we captured perspectives spanning heritage, planning, sustainability, transport and urban design. Every contribution was valuable. The hardest part wasn’t creating content, it was deciding what to leave out.

We distilled over an hour of interviews into a concise narrative under five minutes, supported by carefully-considered aerial imagery, subtle motion graphics and a clear, logical story structure.

For marketing and communications teams working on stakeholder sensitive projects, this is often the real challenge. Effective corporate video isn’t about saying more. It’s about guiding viewers through complexity with confidence and restraint.

Beyond the Main Video

In addition to the master overview, we also produced a series of short form videos featuring individual expert consultants. These focused on key themes including site heritage, transport and accessibility, architecture and urban form green spaces, and the overall planning framework.

This approach allowed DevelopmentWA to communicate depth without forcing everything into a single piece of content.
